For over 30 Years, Lindsay Muirhead has been encapsulating the beauty of the New Zealand wilderness within his paintings. Using only the premium of oil paints and high quality canvas, Lindsay uses the most intricate brush strokes to achieve his picturesque quality in art.
Creating realistic depictions of the Southern landscape became a passion during his years fishing and hunting in the region and know the land well enough to get a most accurate illustration for you.
Also to gather material for his paintings, Lindsay has hired helicopters to fly to some of the more inaccessible parts of Fiordland. It is his love of this area that he portrays onto canvas using light and mood which this area is renowned for.
Lindsay has been involved in a number of exhibition at some of the countries top galleries and his paintings have been commission for corporate presentation and are hanging in private collections in many countries around the world.
In preparation of his art Lindsay uses up to 6 layers of primer to prepare the canvas which enhances the colour within the painting. He is also very happy to take commission from any client for a variety of sizes.
Lindsay was a charter member of the Pastel Artist of New Zealand and won the seascape section in the National Exhibition in 2004. Lindsay has won a Peoples Choice Award in art societies, and while he is self taught, he has trained with some of New Zealand's leading artists.
Lindsay was born in Invercargill but now resides in Pakuranga, Auckland and takes regular trips back to the southern areas to gather new material to paint.
